There are two commonly recommended regimens:
1. Zithromax (Azithromycin) 1.0gm (4 x 250 mg) a single dose, or
2. Zithromax Z-pak (Azithromycin) – 500mg on day 1, followed by 1 tab (250mg) once a day for 4 more days.
The patients who are afraid to have difficulty remembering to take a pill usually prefer a single dose treatment which is as effective as 5-days treatment. The regimen a doctor may recommend for chlamydia treatment depends on many factors: the age of the patient, his health status, the stage of the disease and others. Once a person have found out of being infected it’s necessary that he notifies all of his sexual partners. They should be tested and treated otherwise he can be easily reinfected and chlamydia infection may spread.
As you see the treatment for chlamydia infection is quite simple but before taking Azithromycin make sure you have never had an allergic reaction to this or similar drugs. Also be careful taking other drugs together with Azithromycin.
